In “Dreams”, I am the sorceress, high priestess, creator of my own fantastical world,” says Carucci.

Self-taught as a producer, Mia Carucci’s work explores experimental sounds rooted in Afro-Indigenous traditions from Latin America and the Caribbean. Born and raised in Miami, Mia was influenced by the innovative hip-hop and Latin disco scene of the area. They slowly rose through the LA DJ scene, landing performances on Boiler Room, NTS and opening for  Earl Sweatshirt’s tour, as well as the sold-out Jorja Smith x Kali Uchis Tour in 2019. With their upcoming EP, Mia Carucci pushes the boundaries of experimental music by creating a body of work that is possessed by her own experience with deep inspiration from the spiritual world.

Mondo Cozmo wants you to to “Feel Good” with euphoric new single

Mondo Cozmo wants you to to “Feel Good” with euphoric new single

e songsmith Mondo Cozmo (aka Josh Ostrander) releases the jubilant new single, “Feel Good.”  “Feel Good” is the first single from Mondo Cozmo’s forthcoming album and was co-written and produced by Ostrander. “Feel Good,” features a lush, funk-driven beat, while the track’s chorus is embraced by horns, asking the rhetorical “Don’t it make you feel good?”

About “Feel Good,” Ostrander says, “Upon returning home to Los Angeles from our cancelled tour in March of 2020, I went to a grocery store and the line was around the block. I immediately went home and packed up everything and moved to the mountains. I found a cabin in a town called Twin Peaks, California. This would become my home for the next 18 months and the space where I would record the follow up to my sophomore album ‘New Medicine.’ The first song I wrote and recorded was ‘Feel Good’ because I was sure when the goddamn pandemic was over no one was going to want to hear a sad song about the pandemic. It was just a song that made me happy when I needed it the most.”  He adds, “My goal is to hear it played in a grocery store.”

“Feel Good” can be heard in the national television ad for Panera Bread, running through fall of 2022.

The video for “Feel Good” was adapted from the early 2010s popular YouTube video Phil Dancing In The Grocery Store.  It features the main character Phil dancing around a grocery store to the Mondo Cozmo tune, surprising customers. The whole video has a feel-good vibe and fits perfectly with the track.

Anand Wilder signs to Last Gang + shares new single “Delirium Passes”

Anand Wilder signs to Last Gang + shares new single “Delirium Passes”

Former Yeasayer member announces Debut Solo Album I Don’t Know My Words to Be Released In 2022.

Today, Anand Wilder shared “Delirium Passes,” his first release as a solo artist. The former Yeasayer songwriter has also announced plans to release his debut LP I Don’t Know My Words in 2022 via his new label home, Last Gang. The video for “Delirium Passes,” which features Ben Sinclair from HBO’s High Maintenance, is currently streaming via Stereogum who calls it “a rapturous shot of kaleidoscopic psych-folk.”

“This song is about escape versus perseverance,” says Wilder. “The conversation is about the freedom from the responsibility required of familial duty, the perseverance of a long-term relationship, willingness to resolve conflicts peaceably, willingness to compromise… and the delusion that when you move on you’ll become a less chauvinistic man instead of falling into old habits.”

“For the music video, the director Derek Howard and I decided to very loosely adapt a James Joyce short story called “The Boarding House,” which I had nicked the song’s title phrase from. We always knew we wanted to shoot it on 16mm film, with prismatic and double exposure in-camera effects, mixed with silent era vaudeville style acting. We took visual cues from some of our favorite films by Frank Capra, Chaplin, Eisenstein, Guy Maddin, Tarkovsky, Terry Gilliam, and Mehboob Khan.  The result is kind of an absurdist slapstick psychedelic fairytale, complete with a Bufo Alvarius Toad induced change of heart, dished out by actor Ben Sinclair, who graciously threw himself into the dual role of abusive butcher father and pusher priest.”

Wilder’s reputation as a talented multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter emerged in the Brooklyn indie rock scene of the late 2000s, where he joined his bandmates in painting on the eclectic palette of synths, strings, and harmonies that defined Yeasayer’s acclaimed psychedelic worldbeat and swerving electro-pop experiments. He was at home writing and fronting big hits like Yeasayer’s “O.N.E.,” and “Wait for the Summer,” but the spirit of community always pervaded his surprising collaborations, from the guest-star-studded recordings of the peculiar rock musical album Break Line (2014) that Wilder composed with college friend Maxwell Kardon, to his occasional production credits for fellow travelers like Suckers and Das Racist.

With I Don’t Know My Words, Wilder turns his multi-instrumentality away from electronica and global genre-hopping toward a more grounded, home-brewed sound. Recording on his own, he played every instrument on the album from plucked cellos and bowed acoustic guitars to oscillating textures of dulcimers and tumbling, song-serving drums.

“After some initial attempts at collaborating with outside musicians, I realized that I needed to have my hands on every aspect of recording my first solo effort,” recounts Wilder. “So much of the pleasure of making this album was reigniting my childhood passion for challenging myself to pick up any instrument.”

Themes of family ties were infused into the album from the outset, as Wilder found himself writing and recording in close quarters with his wife and children throughout COVID lockdown in their New York apartment. Much of the inspiration for the project can be traced to Wilder’s familial roots and his own childhood. “My mom, who was born in India, is a huge music lover,” he writes. “Whatever we were doing, the Beatles, Cat Stevens and Fairport Convention were playing in the house through these homemade speakers my father had wired. The lockdown brought all that back to me, and the music I began making translates that musical mood of my childhood for my family now. I wanted to go back to basics, back to songs. Light on electronics and experimentation, heavy on acoustics and vocals.”

Low Hum share new single “Model Me”

LISTEN TO “MODEL ME” HERE.

Low Hum is gearing up for the October 8th release of the new album Nonfiction, due out on Last Gang Records. Today the Los Angeles based outfit, the brainchild of Hawaiian born musician Collin Desha, shares the new single “Model Me”. Nonfiction is available for digital and physical pre-order today, and is the second full length release for Low Hum following the 2019 debut LP Room To Breathe, which engendered comparisons to the stylings of Tame Impala and beloved UK group The Beta Band, and  took home praise from KCRW, Relix and Clash Magazine among others. Early singles from the forthcoming album Nonfiction have already won attention from NPR Music, SPIN and Spotify’s “Modern Psychedelia” playlist.

Low Hum will celebrate Nonficiton with an album release show on October 3rd at The Echo in Los Angeles. This fall fans can catch Low Hum live on a North American tour with Mating Ritual. Upcoming tour dates below and at Low-Hum.com/tour.

Low Hum have found a global audience on YouTube and Spotify, with 10s of millions of organic streams among music fanatics on message boards and social media. A phenomenon that caught Desha off guard as his YouTube subscribers and streams increased exponentially in the months that followed debut album Room To Breathe’s release. “I first started to see videos that transcribed a few of my songs in Spanish and I was humbled by it,” says Desha. “Eventually it started to reach India, South Korea, Australia, Brazil… I was so impressed by the positivity in the comment section between everyone I became ecstatic my music was the thing bringing this little online community together.”

The forthcoming new album Nonfiction, was recorded and co-produced with Jon Joseph, and expands upon Desha’s kaleidoscopic Lo-fi meets Hi-fi futurism: a mixture of oceanic tranquility, dreampop-like sensibilities, heavy fuzzed-out riffs juxtaposed alongside melodious synth and vocals with refreshing punch. Low Hum, Desha says “was always meant to be my creative refuge, a place for me to escape my own reality and give me a sense of freedom” and is happy it has motivated those who listen “to feel a sense of community and that we are all in this together.”

Dear Boy sign to Last Gang Records + share new single “(On My) Mind”

Dear Boy sign to Last Gang Records + share new single “(On My) Mind”

(On My) Mind”  is available now on all streaming services.

Los Angeles-based band Dear Boy are pleased to present the official video for their new single “(On My) Mind.” The video, which was directed by Dear Boy’s Ben Grey, debuted today at Flood Magazine and can also be shared at YouTube. About the song Grey adds, “‘(On My) Mind’ is about distance, and the complexities of being in love and apart. Missing someone is a whole other level of consciousness. Extreme joy and pain. A swirl of memory, dream and fantasy. But these are things that connect us to the people that we love and they’re precious. Good and bad.”

“(On My Mind)” is lifted from the band’s debut full-length album due next year on the band’s new label home, Last Gang Records.

On the signing Grey says:“We are overjoyed to be signing with Last Gang Records. They remind us of the kids we grew up trading music with. Passionate, excited audiophiles who just happen to run one of the coolest labels on Earth. I can’t think of a better partner for Dear Boy. Oh, and they’ve released some of our favorite albums of all time. There’s also that.” Last Gang’s General Manger Chris Moncada adds, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be partnering Last Gang with Dear Boy to help bring their art to the world.  From the opening notes of ‘(On My) Mind,’ you can hear and feel the infectious energy that flows through the entire album.  I cant wait for people to hear the whole thing.”

Dear Boy has also announced a West Coast tour
which will include shows in Seattle, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego and a hometown show at The Troubadour. All shows are listed below and tickets are available HERE.

Dear Boy is the torch bearer of lyric forward guitar music and melody focused indie rock. The band has become an important voice in the LA underground music scene, crafting bittersweet songs inspired by late 70’s / early 80’s post-punk and early 90’s britpop, seen through their unique modern lens.

Dear Boy is a band of best friends from Los Angeles, California. Ben Grey (vocals / guitar), Austin Hayman (guitar), Keith Cooper (drums) and Lucy Lawrence (bass / vocals). With three EP’s and a bouquet of singles, Dear Boy has earned an immense and loyal following, selling out headline shows from the Troubadour to The Teragram and touring with the likes of The Psychedelic Furs, James, Pete Yorn, Day Wave, Rogue Wave, Sunflower Bean, DMA’s & Peter Murphy. 2019 also saw the band performing at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City and recording a live set on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.

In 2020 Dear Boy completed their debut full length album and in 2021, signed with Last Gang Records. The release will be Dear Boy’s first collaboration with the legendary label. Produced by the band and mixed by Tony Hoffer (Air, Phoenix, M83), the record also features contributions from Day Wave, Hazel English, Rogue Wave, AFI & Ian Hultquist of Passion Pit.

Dear Boy describes it as a “forever record.” They can’t wait to hear the band you start after you finish listening to it.

“You don’t have to come from across the great, big pond to have a bit of British edge to your band. Dear Boy may hail from Los Angeles, but their alternative sound carries with it distinct notes of post-Britpop stylings.” – Consequence of Sound

“LA’s charmingly monikered Dear Boy brilliantly recall those ‘Sound Of Young Scotland’ bands like Orange Juice and Aztec Camera – with their shimmering guitars, sparkling melodies and widescreen post-punk atmospherics. From the first notes of the skillfully flanged guitar, it’s like a time machine back to when mellifluous melodies seemed the only reasonable riposte to the bleak, mean Glasgow streets.” – Blackbook

“The four real life friends that make up Dear Boy (vocalist Ben Grey, guitarist Austin Hayman, drummer Keith Cooper, and bassist Lucy Lawrence) have made something that is deeply personal, while celebrating their city and challenging the direction of modern guitar music.” – Ones To Watch

“Dear Boy has positioned themselves as a band worth indulging your youthful abandon with.” – NYLON
