BELLA POARCH ENTERS ‘THE MAD HIVE’ IN OSRIN-DIRECTED MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “STAY GONE”

Bella Poarch enters ‘The Mad Hive’ in the music video for her brand new single, “Stay Gone,” a dystopian visual fable directed by acclaimed Tokyo-based filmmaker OSRIN. From Bella’s forthcoming debut album, PICNIC AT THE CEMETERY, due September 18, the song and visual turn one of the album’s most personal themes – the cost of choosing yourself – into an immersive world of its own.

In ‘The Mad Hive,’ villagers wear identical masks, carry twisted spears and move through the same programmed routine, while Bella alone longs for light rather than conformity. When she shatters her weapon and removes her mask before the Queen, she is branded a traitor, stripped of “the light in her eyes” and cast into a pitch-black wasteland.

Her exile becomes the beginning of a metamorphosis. Reimagining the Japanese micro-season Kusaretaru kusa hotaru to naru (“rotten grass becomes fireflies”), OSRIN recasts the natural image as a bee’s passage into a firefly: Bella’s broken form erupts into radiant fireworks, transforming the punishment for her defiance into freedom. The visual extends Bella’s established world-building while giving “Stay Gone” the emotional arc of a self-contained short film.

‘Stay Gone’ is about choosing yourself, even when leaving is terrifying,” Bella explains. “Sometimes you have to leave an environment that has caused you pain in order to discover who you really are. For me, that meant leaving my home to join the military and build a life of my own. My dad told me I couldn’t come home if I failed. He meant it as a threat, but I remember feeling relieved – I knew I never wanted to return to that toxic home environment. I wanted the lyrics and video for ‘Stay Gone’ to capture that realization: your freedom is worth the risk.

That experience grounds both the song and its visual narrative, transforming Bella’s choice to leave into an unyielding statement of autonomy: she would not trade her freedom for belonging.

“Stay Gone” follows album singles “Ribcage” and “My Boy,” continuing the rollout toward PICNIC AT THE CEMETERY, due September 18.
