Composer & Producer Harrison Teams Up With Saxophonist Jaleel Shaw On "You hate Jazz?"

JUNO, UK MVA, and Prism Prize-nominated Toronto producer and musical polymath Harrison has teamed up with saxophonist Jaleel Shaw (best known for performing with the likes of Robert Glasper, Nate Smith, etc.) for his new, whimsical single, “You hate Jazz?”.  This single is the follow-up to Harrison’s last collaboration with Shaw, “Feels Like Yesterday.”

Harrison’s last album, Birds, Bees, The Clouds & The Trees, was his second JUNO-nominated album. “I knew I wanted to just make what I thought was cool, regardless of it being cheesy,” he says of the piano-centred compositions, which he worked on in his Toronto studio.

Like his previous two albums, Birds, Bees, The Clouds & The Trees saw a handful of guests stepping into the producer’s technicolored world, including Kadhja Bonet, TOBi, Nanna.B, MED and Guilty Simpson (their first reunion since J Dilla’s The Shining in 2006).

Harrison draws inspiration from cartoons such as Looney Tunes and Gumball, as well as Vince Guaraldi soundtracks.  More Harrison singles are to come throughout this year.
